Festival History

The Festival was started in 1987. The first two years the Festival was held at USCB with only 10 trees. Then from 1990 it was held at the Armory for 10 years until it moved to The Shed in Port Royal for one year in 2000. Since 2001 it has been held at the Lynn Brown Neighborhood Activity Center, formerly the Green Street Gym. In the beginning the Festival only raised a few thousand dollars and now it has grown to average $90,000.00 a year! The Festival has been privileged to have been organized by such wonderful leaders as Margaret Baker, Veronica Tovey, Mary Hill, Dee Renwick, Judy Gabriel, Linda Olson, Jack Hayes, Rita Merrill, Karen Harvey, Norma Duncan, Judy Holquist, Jennifer Bailey, Robin Boozer,  Courtney Worrell and Sally Mitchell.

2012 marks the 25th year for the Festival of Trees.   This year the Festival will have donated over 1 million dollars to FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice!

This extraordinary event has become a tradition of Beaufort, South Carolina’s holiday season. All proceeds benefit Friends of Caroline Hospice which provides its services totally free of charge to families in our community who have a loved one struggling with a life threatening illness. Be sure to mark your calendars for this spectacular event for the whole family.  You will not want to miss it!
